Daily Spelling Bee

About Daily Spelling Bee

Answers, hints and archives for the New York Times word games.

What this site is

Daily Spelling Beepublishes the answers to today’s puzzles, along with hints that narrow things down without giving the whole thing away, and a playable board so you can try it here first. Every past puzzle stays online in the archive rather than being overwritten each morning.

The order is deliberate: hints before answers, and answers behind a heading you have to scroll to. Nobody wants a puzzle spoiled by a page they only opened for a nudge.

Where the answers come from

Each puzzle is fetched from its publisher every morning, parsed, and checked against the clock — if a game has not rolled over when it should have, the failure is raised rather than left to serve yesterday’s answers as today’s. Answers are facts about a published puzzle; we do not reproduce the puzzle artwork or the publisher’s own presentation of it.

Who runs it

It is run by one person, independently. It is not a publication, and there is no newsroom behind it. If something is wrong on a page, one email reaches the person who can fix it: hello@dailyspellingbee.com.

Affiliation

Daily Spelling Bee is an independent fan resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The New York Times. All puzzle names and trademarks belong to their respective owners, and are used here only to say which puzzle a page is about.

How it pays for itself

Through advertising. Ad space is laid out with its height reserved before anything loads, so the page does not jump under your thumb as you read — the single most irritating thing an ad-supported site can do. See the privacy policy for what that means for your data.
